Back to school is a hectic time—so why not make dinner easier? This 15-minute DIY Pizza is the perfect way to include the whole family in a tasty, fun dinner! Bonus? It bakes for less than 10 minutes and everyone can make their own!

This pizza is SO simple because Naan is used as the base. Naan, if you haven’t heard of it, is an oven-baked flat bread that’s popular in the Middle East and parts of Asia.

I like to buy whole wheat Naan, but there are many varieties: garlic infused, herbed, etc. (You can find packs of Naan at  most major grocery chains like Fred Meyer, Whole Foods, New Seasons, Trader Joes, Safeway, and more.) Once you have the Naan, you simply drizzle it with extra virgin olive oil (to the edges, so they don’t burn) and pile on the toppings! The sky is the limit with the options you have! I’m sharing two ideas for themed pizzas below—but really, let your imagination run wild! To make this meal healthier, I love adding any veggies I have in the kitchen: zucchini, arugula, artichoke hearts, bell peppers, and more! Here are some theme ideas to get you inspired…

For the Pesto Lovers Pizza:

What You’ll Need:

  • Naan bread
  • ½ Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. pesto
  • ¼ cup of fresh mozzarella—or fresh, buffalo mozzarella pearls
  • ¼ cup fresh arugula or kale
  • ¼ chopped red bell pepper
  • ¼ cup sundried tomatoes
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

For the Traditionalist:

What You’ll Need:

  • Naan bread
  • ½ Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp. marinara sauce
  • ¼ cup of fresh mozzarella—or fresh, buffalo mozzarella pearls
  • ¼ cup nitrate-free pepperonis
  • 2 tbsp. olives
  • 1 tbsp. chopped onion
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

For the BBQ Chicken Lover:

What You’ll Need:

  • Naan Bread
  • ½ Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp. barbeque sauce
  • ¼ cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 tbsp. green onions
  • ½ cooked chicken breast, chopped into chunks
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp. chopped onion

The Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400-degrees F.
  2. Place your Naan onto an unprepared (ungreased) cookie sheet. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and use a brush to spread the olive oil to the sizes.
  3. Add your base (pesto, barbeque sauce, or marinara sauce) and toppings. Sprinkle with garlic powder and salt at the end. Bake for 8 minutes, or until cheese is thoroughly melted and enjoy!
That’s it! It’s really that simple!
